"E Hoomau Maua Kealoha ~ May our love last forever" --old Hawaiian saying

Celebratory Dinner

Our celebratory dinner will be held at 7:00 PM at Sel de la Terre on Friday, December 29, 2006. What's on the menu, you ask? There's really something for everyone! Sel de la Terre also has an extensive wine program with highlights from Southern France.

How we got married in Hawaii

Since we wanted to get married on the island of Oahu, we needed to take care of some basics. Most importantly, we needed help organizing things, so we got a wedding planner. We used (and highly recommend) Steve Young at Dream Weddings Hawaii. He pulled it off for us with no hitches. In addition, his photography was excellent and we walked away with a set of prints and all the negatives. We also needed to get a marriage license, of course. It was only the two of us, and Hawaii luckily does not require a witness.

A Hawaiian Honeymoon

Well before we embarked on our adventure, we picked up the following guidebooks: They were indespensible for our trip (books are available for all the islands). The reviews seemed honest and the maps were excellent; the authors even included mile markers for the harder-to-find destinations. Apparently, these books are so good that there has been a backlash from local residents regarding some of the content.

Every tourist (e.g., everyone) on the islands seemed to have these books. Therefore, I'd like to offer my $0.02. Please don't use guidebooks as an itinerary for your honeymoon or vacation. Local establishments can thrive or fail based on a single review published in a such a guide. Be your own captain and explore these islands based on your own interests and not just by what has been outlined for you. Right, enough on that.

Oahu

We stayed at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko'Olina. It's located about 20 miles west of the hustle and bustle of Honolulu which turned out to be great for us newlyweds! There are 4 man made lagoons with very respectable snorkeling due to the clear water. We were married at a natural lagoon just north of the hotel.

Registries

We're registered both at Macy*s and Crate & Barrel.
